
The Institute for Development of Social Protection
The Institute for Development of Social Protection (the IDSP) is engaged in research related to the domain of social protection. The IDSPʻs primary research objective is to analyze the fundamental causes of social vulnerability. It also seeks to develop proposals for improving the social protection system. These proposals are formulated with a foundation in empirical evidence and are designed to be efficacious and to have a prospective orientation.

The main functions of the IDSP include:
• Establishing the scientific foundations for ongoing reforms in the field of social protection;• Evaluating the effectiveness of social programs and developing relevant recommendations for their further improvement;• Conducting fundamental and applied research on social sector processes;• Promoting social research in the country and contributing to the development of scientific potential;• Strengthening cooperation with leading national and international scientific institutions and organizations.
HOW WE FUNCTION
The IDSP adopts an ecosystem approach to advance social research in Uzbekistan, actively collaborating with national and international universities, think tanks, private research agencies, experts, young researchers, and other key stakeholders.The IDSP applies a programmatic approach to research projects. The main programs covered by the institute are:• Social-economic resilience;
• Just transition;
• Behavioural insights;
• Policy innovations and governance.
WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SO FAR
• Implementation and development of social insurance legislation in Uzbekistan. In collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Uzbekistan.• Cost of raising a child with disabilities in Uzbekistan: goods and services necessary for equal participation of children with disabilities. In collaboration with UNICEF.;• Developing poverty targeting formula;• Energy poverty in Uzbekistan;• Preference for redistribution in Uzbekistan;• Determinants of violence against children in Uzbekistan;• Barriers to enter labour market for young persons with disability;• Women's Employment in Uzbekistan;• Effects of child benefit programs to household wellbeing indicators.
